MOROCCO TOUR ITINERARY 6-DAY CHEGAGA DESERT TOUR
Day 1: Agadir – Taroudant – Tilouine – Foum Zguid
This private tour with Morocco Culture Tours starts with comfortable transfer from your local hotel in Agadir. The Agadir desert tour will begin at 8.30 a.m. with a drive on the 4 from Agadir to the picturesque town of Taroudant, popularly known as "the little Marrakech" because of its gorgeous Medina and towering fortifications. Day 2: Foum Zguid – Chegaga Dunes
After breakfast, we'll go to Iriqui Lake to explore for fossils. The lake was once teeming with fish and water fowl, but it's now mostly dried up. We will drive through several parts of the desert, including Reg, the stony desert, and Hammada, while lunch will be in Chegaga, a remote region of the desert where you may take a one to two hour camel ride to observe the spectacular sunset at the top of the dunes. We'll stay at the Bivouac for the night.
Day 3: Chegaga – Agdz
After breakfast, we'll drive over the desert to M'hamid, passing by the Sacred Oasis. At M'hamid, we will visit the ancestral home, which is located in the ancient hamlet on the opposite side of the Daraa River, before heading to Morocco's longest valley, the "Daraa Valley," and passing through its largest oasis, "Zagora," which is famous for its dates. We will continue along the historic caravan road, which was utilized by caravans carrying valuables from Mali or Mauritania for days and weeks, as well as through the river, Kasbahs, mountains, and gardens. These views and locations will let you experience the beauty of Morocco while also giving you a good picture of how people live here. In our 6 Days Agadir Marrakech desert tour, we will arrive in Agdz and spend the night in a traditional guest home.
Day 4: Agdz – Dades Gorges
After breakfast, we will visit the oldest and most famous Kasbah in the Daraa Valley, in a period when only a few families occupied a part of it, while other parts, such as the "Mellah" and "Jewish neighborhood," are completely crumbled after the last people moved to Israel at the end of the 1960s. Then, crossing the Tansikht bridge to take a break and have dinner in the little Berber town of N'Qob. We will continue north toward Alnif, passing through the Saghro highlands, where the major tribe was At Atta, who were the last people to reject the French occupation, then to Tinghir, Todra Gorges for lunch, and ultimately spending the night in the Dades Valley.
Day 5: Dades Gorges – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, we will take a walk through the Dades Gorges before traveling to Boulmane Dades and then to Boutaghrar. We can stop along the way to share a cup of Moroccan mint tea with a Berber nomad family, and then we'll drive to the Valley of Roses, where a rose festival is held each year at the beginning of May, and where the rose blossoms are used to make the wonderful local oils, soap, and lotions sold throughout the country. We will proceed to the Skoura Oasis, where there are numerous ancient badly damaged Kasbahs hidden amid the palm trees, then to Amridil Kasbah and lastly to Ouarzazate, where we will spend the night in a riad while passing by the lake.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Marrakech
After breakfast on our final day of the Agadir desert tour, we will go to the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, which was frequently used as a backdrop for some unforgettable scenes in many masterpiece films, such as "The Gladiator" and "Lawrence of Arabia," for lunch, and then to Telouet Kasbah, which was once the residence of the Thami Glaoui Pasha of Marrakeshh. After going via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, we will arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon, bringing our Agadir desert excursion to a close.
